MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police headquarters at Camp Crame in Quezon City has the highest rate of COVID-19 infections among the PNP camps in the country.

Data from the PNP showed that 367 of the 3,151 PNP members assigned at Camp Crame contracted COVID-19, or an infection rate of 11.64 percent.

The good news is that only 12 or or 3.26 percent of the 367 patients at Camp Crame are still infected with the virus while the rest have recovered.

Second are PNP national support units (NSUs) where 2,783 of the 34,769 personnel were found positive for COVID-19, or an infection rate of eight percent.

Among these NSUs are the Health Services, Headquarters Support Service, Maritime Group, Intelligence Group, Police Security and Protection Group, Aviation Security Group, Highway Patrol Group, Civil Security Group, Anti-Cybercrime Group and Anti-Kidnapping Group.

Police Regional Offices or PROs across the country ranked third since 6,759 or 3.72 percent of the 181,547 PNP members were infected.

The PNP has imposed strict measures to curb the spread of COVID-19 which has infected 9,909 of its members, 28 of whom have succumbed to the virus.

A total of 9,314 or 93.99 percent of the patients have recovered while 567 are still recuperating either in hospitals or quarantine facilities.

PNP deputy chief for administration Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar said they are aiming to subject all police personnel in Metro Manila to swab testing so  the infected are immediately isolated and receive proper treatment.

The PNP yesterday recorded 69 new cases yesterday. Twenty-six of them are from Central Luzon while 13 are assigned in the Zamboanga Peninsula.

The other regions with new patients are Metro Manila with 11, Northern Mindanao, three, Ilocos, Cagayan Valley and the Cordilleras, two each, and Calabarzon, Bicol, Western Visayas, Central Visayas and Soccsksargen, one each.

Five other cases are from various administrative support units of the PNP.
