Palace names 50 new DOJ prosecutors
MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang has approved the appointment of 50 prosecutors at the Department of Justice to speed up the resolution of complaints against government officials, DOJ Secretary Menardo Guevarra reported yesterday.
Guevarra said the prosecutors would fill the vacancies in Manila, Quezon City, Las Piñas and other cities in the National Capital Region.
On Jan. 19, Guevarra announced the appointment of 24 DOJ prosecutors. The DOJ on Saturday released the second list containing the names of 26 more prosecutors.
This is the first and second batch of appointments of prosecutors for the year.
Some prosecutors will be assigned to Visayas and Mindanao, according to Guevarra.
Last week, lawyer Jon Paulo Salvahan was sworn in as DOJ undesecretary.
He replaced Markk Perete who resigned from the DOJ in October last year.
