MANILA, Philippines — Police have ruled out foul play in the death of former Ozamiz City councilor Ricardo “Ardot” Parojinog on Friday.

Citing initial investigation, Northern Mindanao police director Brig. Gen. Rolando Anduyan said there were no injuries on Parojinog’s body which could indicate that someone attempted to kill him.

“Wala siyang sugat na cause ng pointed materials. Wala rin siyang pasa na indication na binugbog siya,” Anduyan said in an interview over dzBB.

He said there were also no ligature marks on Parojinog’s neck which would indicate that someone tried to strangle him.

Parojinog was brought to Ozamiz from Camp Crame to attend a court hearing on the illegal possession of firearms and explosives charges that had been filed against him.

Anduyan said Parojinog died from cardio pulmonary arrest or cardiac arrest secondary to cardiovascular disease.

Swab samples were taken from Parojinog to determine  if he contracted the coronavirus disease 2019.

Four police officers and those who had been exposed to Parojinog were quarantined while waiting for the result of his swab test.
