CebuPac requires swab test for Davao-bound passengers

Richmond Mercurio - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Budget carrier Cebu Pacific is requiring passengers bound for Davao to show swab test results certifying they are negative for coronavirus 2019 or COVID-19.

Cebu Pacific said passengers should undergo the reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction or RT-PCR test within 48 hours before their departure.

It said the coronavirus antibody blood or rapid test is not acceptable.

“Guests without the swab test results will not be allowed to board the flight,” the airline said.

Cebu Pacific said the new requirement, which started yesterday, is in compliance with the regulations set by the local government of Davao.

“Passengers are urged to check with the concerned local government units first prior to departure as they may have specific requirement and regulations,” the carrier said.

“They may also be asked to provide their complete addresses prior to travel date. Providing inaccurate information or incomplete requirement may result in denied boarding of the flight,” it added.

Cebu Pacific started operating a limited number of domestic flights since last month, and has resumed passenger flights to and from Dubai this month.

It said all other Cebu Pacific international flights remain cancelled until July 31.
