Parañaque launches online courier service for government transactions

MANILA, Philippines – The Parañaque City government has launched online courier and processing services for government transactions.

Mayor Edwin Olivarez, in a statement on Friday, said the city government is “maximizing the use of technology and courier services to discourage physical or face-to-face transactions in accessing government services” during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.

“This is also part of its e-governance program to ease doing business with the local government,” he said.

The city government tapped Keri Delivery Inc. to roll out the program, making Parañaque the first local government unit to utilize an online-based courier and processing service for government transactions.

Through the Keri app, the public may be able to avail themselves of the “full concierge service” wherein there would no longer be physical transactions with the city government.

The service would include pick-up of documents, transmittal of picked-up documents to the appropriate office or department for processing, payment of fees and charges via manager’s check and delivery of issued permits or documents back to the client.

City business permit and licensing office chief Melanie Malaya said that aside from these, the application could also be used for a special pick-up and request service, wherein individuals could avail themselves of on-demand and scheduled pick-up of documents.

The city government earlier launched its online appointment system and online business application, to minimize physical interaction.
