MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Public Works and Highways will begin this week the construction of six dormitories for healthcare workers in Quezon City, DPWH Secretary Mark Villar announced yesterday.

According to Villar, the offsite dormitories will rise at the Quezon Memorial Circle.

He said the dormitories are intended for medical personnel of the Philippine Heart Center, Lung Center of the Philippines, National Kidney and Transplant Institute, East Avenue Medical Center, Veterans Memorial Medical Center, V. Luna Medical Center and other hospitals in the area.

Each dormitory can accommodate 32 health workers who will be spared from traveling to and from the hospitals.

“These facilities will help recharge our frontliners since there is no need for them to go home after a tiring day at work,” Villar said.

He inspected the site of the dormitories together with representatives from the Quezon City government.
