3 held at checkpoint in Cagayan
TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Philippines — A truck driver and a couple from Metro Manila were intercepted at a checkpoint in Cagayan on Friday.
Ronel Taguba, 28; his wife Honey, 32, and truck driver Oliver Agustin, 42, were placed on 14-day home quarantine, according to municipal disaster risk reduction and management officer Noly Pascua.
Authorities are tracking down the truck driver who transported the couple to Tuguegarao City, where Agustin picked them up on April 16.
The Baguio City police also confirmed incidents of people being transported by cargo trucks carrying fruits and vegetables to get past quarantine checkpoints.
Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong closed the borders of the city to non-essential travelers and residents from other provinces to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019.
