Eastern Visayas workers may get wage hike
MANILA, Philippines — Minimum wage earners in Eastern Visayas may get an increase in their daily takehome pay.
Yahya Centi, Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board-Eastern Visayas chairman, said public consultations on the proposed pay hike would continue until tomorrow.
“We cannot tell yet... but depending on the results of the consultations, our workers in Eastern Visayas may get a wage increase this year,” Centi said.
He said representatives of both labor and management have been attending the consultations.
Centi said the Department of Trade and Industry gave updates on the prices of basic good commodities and suggested retail prices in the region while the National Economic and Development Authority reported on the economic condition.
The current daily mimimum wage in Eastern Visayas is P305. The previous wage increase was granted in June last year.
