Seafarers get free MRT-3 rides today

MANILA, Philippines — Seafarers can avail themselves of free rides at the Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) today as part of the celebration of the Day of the Filipino Seafarer.

In an advisory issued yesterday, the MRT-3 management said free rides are available from 5:30 a.m. until 10:30 p.m.

Seafarers must present their seaman’s book and identification card issued by the Professional Regulation Commission to the tellers or security guards.

Former president Benigno Aquino III signed Proclamation 183 in 2011, declaring June 25 of every year as the Day of the Filipino Seafarer.
