FDA warns public vs fake antiseptic solution

MANILA, Philippines — The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) yesterday warned the public against fake antiseptic solution in the market.

In an advisory, the FDA said four counterfeit variants of Povidone-Iodine (Betadine) 10 percent Solution 15 mL are sold in the market.

“Healthcare professionals, hospitals and other health institutions and the general public are warned of these counterfeit drug products, which pose danger to consumers,” the FDA said.

The agency said establishments and outlets found selling fake Betadine products would be fined.
