Romina Cabrera - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — An estimated 900 families lost their homes in a two-hour fire that hit a residential area in Quezon City yesterday.

Around 300 houses were destroyed in the fire, which reached alarm level Task Force Bravo in around 45 minutes.

The blaze started at around noon in the bedroom of a one-story house made of light materials and quickly spread to neighboring houses.

Senior Superintendent Jaime Ramirez, city fire marshall, said three people suffered foot injuries in the fire but there were no reported fatalities.

A 16-year-old boy sustained a contusion while two others had abrasions and puncture wounds.

Ramirez said the cause of the fire, which destroyed P1.5 million worth of property, is still under investigation.
