New Southern Luzon Command chief named

MANILA, Philippines — An Army officer, who discovered a training camp of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front in Iligan City four years ago, has been designated Southern Luzon Command (Solcom) chief.

Maj. Gen. Gilbert Gapay, concurrent commander of the Mechanized Division, assumed the post in ceremonies held at the Solcom headquarters on Tuesday.

Gapay replaced Lt. Gen. Danilo Pamonag who reached the mandatory age of retirement.
