Ding Cervantes - The Philippine Star

CLARK FREEPORT, Pampanga, Philippines — President Duterte has declared Oct. 15 and 26 as non-working holidays in Angeles City, which is celebrating its fiesta this month.

Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea signed Proclamation 589, declaring the special non-working holidays for this city‘s Fiestang Kuliat.

The order cited fiesta events like the streetdancing competition, which symbolizes the resilience of the Kapampangans during the Mt. Pinatubo eruption.

“It is but fitting and proper that the people of the city of Angeles be given full opportunity to celebrate and participate in these occasions with appropriate ceremonies,” the proclamation said.

Malacañang has been issuing the proclamation for this city’s fiesta, but the date varies depending on the schedule of festivities.

City officials said that this year, Oct. 15 marks the feast of the Virgen dela Naval, while Oct. 26 is the feast of Apu Mamamacalulu or the Lord of Divine Mercy.
