MANILA, Philippines — Quezon City’s Serbisyo sa Bayan Party (SBP) yesterday forged an alliance with Davao City Mayor and presidential daughter Sara Duterte’s regional political party Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP).

Quezon City Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte, who heads the SBP, said the alliance would help boost the advocacies of President Duterte.

Belmonte said the SBP decided to join the HNP not for political gains, but in support of the President and his administration’s policies.

“I am more on the lines that I would like to support the President’s advocacies. He is a person that I would like to support. It is important for me and our party to be aligned with the President’s advocacies so that his dream to unite the country would be fulfilled,” the vice mayor said in a phone interview.

She added she wants Quezon City at the forefront of the changes that Duterte has promised.

Apart from SBP, three national and five local political parties joined forces with the HNP.

These are the Nacionalista Party, Nationalist People’s Coalition, National Unity Party, Ilocano Timpuyog/Nacionalist Party of Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos, Kambilan of Pampanga Gov. Lilia Pineda as well as Alyansa Bolanon Alang Kausaban of Bohol, Aggrupation of Party for Progress of Zamboanga del Norte and PaDayon Pilipino of Misamis Occidental.
