MANILA, Philippines — The chief of the Caloocan City police and two station commanders were relieved from their posts for their lackluster performance, an official said yesterday.

Senior Superintendent Jemar Modequillo,  Superintendent Christian dela Cruz of the Quezon City Police District Station 10 and Superintendent Amante Daro of the Manila Police District Station 11 were sacked upon orders of National Capital Region Police Office chief Director Oscar Albayalde.

“I’m warning our top police officials in Metro Manila that I would not hesitate to sack them once they are not performing accordingly in the war against illegal drugs and criminality. They should shape up this early or else,” warned Albayalde.

According to Albayalde, Modequillo was relieved after he failed to solve a series of shootings, especially the death of a boy hit by a stray bullet and the killing of a tricycle driver sleeping in his vehicle.

Senior Superintendent Restituto Arcanghel, the former chief of the MPD’s District Public Safety Battalion, replaced Modequillo.

Dela Cruz was relieved after Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald dela Rosa found the station “filthy” during a surprise visit last week.

Dela Cruz will be replaced by Superintendent Ariel Capocao of QCPD Station 8, whose new commander will be Superintendent Jojo Concina. The changes will take effect today.

Daro was relieved after he failed to solve the recent shooting at a mall in Divisoria and the killing of a courier during a P1-million robbery in Binondo.

Daro will be replaced by Superintendent Jeff Domingo, whose last assignment was with the Cavite police.
