2 sisters die in Albay fire

LEGAZPI CITY, Philippines — Two sisters died while their father was injured in a fire that destroyed their house in Ligao City, Albay on Monday afternoon.

Rochelle Lovendino, 22, and her sister Rhea, 13, were reportedly trapped in the blaze that occurred at around 5 p.m. in Barangay Bacong.

The victims’ father Benjamin suffered burns when he tried to rescue his daughters, according to Fire Officer 2 Randy Leona of the city fire bureau.

Probers have yet to determine the cause of the blaze. Damage to property was placed at P600,000.
