SUV hits tricycle; 3 dead

TUGUEGARAO, Cagayan, Philippines — Three persons died when a tricycle crashed into a sport utility vehicle in Barangay Upi, Gamu, Isabela on Thursday. 

Tricycle driver Lorenzo Lapastora, 54, and his passengers Teresita Laguindo, 30, and Gabriela Gorospe, 33, died at the scene.

Two other tricycle passengers, Wilma Domingo, 53, and Prescila Mata, 57, were wounded and taken to a hospital for treatment.

The driver of the Toyota Hilux, Ernesto Angoluan, 70, was brought to a hospital after reportedly suffering from hypertension following the accident.

Initial investigation showed Angoluan was overtaking another vehicle when his vehicle hit the tricycle in the opposite lane.
