SUBIC BAY FREEPORT , Philippines   – President Duterte has appointed Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) deputy administrator Randy Escolango as deputy commissioner of the Insurance Commission.

Duterte signed Escolango’s appointment on Aug. 23 and released it along with that of the other appointees on Aug. 29.

“I am overwhelmed by the trust and confidence of the President. I can only reciprocate it with sincere, honest service that will benefit the country,” Escolango said in a text message to The STAR yesterday.

The Insurance Commission, which is under the Department of Finance, is mandated to regulate and supervise the insurance, pre-need and health maintenance organization industry.

In 2016, Escolango was appointed officer-in-charge of SBMA, which runs the country’s premier freeport.

He finished his political science and law degrees from the New Era University and Far Eastern University, respectively.

After passing the bar exams in 2002, Escolango put up his own law office specializing in corporate law.
