6 celebrities on SPD drug watchlist
MANILA, Philippines – Six entertainment celebrities believed to be involved in the illegal drug trade are being monitored by the Southern Police District (SPD), an official said yesterday.
SPD director Senior Superintendent Tomas Apolinario refused to identify the show business personalities who are on the drug watchlist.
“We are monitoring celebrities who are involved in illegal drugs,” Apolinario said.
He said the celebrities are mostly from Makati and Taguig cities.
Among the celebrities who have been arrested by police in anti-drug campaign are former sexy actresses Krista Miller and Sabrina M and actor Mark Anthony Fernandez.
Miller and Sabrina were nabbed in separate drug stings in Quezon City in September. Fernandez, who was arrested in Pampanga last week, allegedly yielded a kilo of marijuana.
Former actor John Wayne Sace, 27, who is reportedly on the drug watchlist of Barangay Sagad in Pasig City, was wounded when unidentified assailants shot him and his companion on Monday night.
Sace, who suffered a gunshot to the body, is in stable condition at the Pasig General Hospital, according to his sister.
Sace’s companion, Erik Sabino, died while being taken to the hospital.
City police chief Senior Superintendent Orlando Yebra said Sace is being investigated for alleged drug peddling.
A new list of celebrities reportedly into drugs came from radio disc jockey Karen Bordador, who was arrested by SPD operatives along with her boyfriend, Emilio Lim, at a condominium unit in Pasig City for alleged possession of the party drug Ecstasy in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig last August.
Authorities tagged Bordador as the alleged supplier of illegal drugs to show business personalities.
Police said they recovered from Bordador and Lim around P2.8 million worth of drugs.
Apolinario urged celebrities involved in drugs to change their ways.
“They better change before it is too late. It’s not only for themselves but for their children and families,” he said.
Apolinario warned celebrities that there are only two places for drug addicts: jail or the cemetery.
