MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED 8:24 p.m.) — House Speaker Feliciano "Sonny" Belmonte Jr. was proclaimed on Tuesday night the representative of the Fourth District of Quezon City.

The Board of Election Canvassers declared that Belmonte, running under the banner of the ruling Liberal Party, was reelected to the House of Representatives after much delay in the process of canvassing of local votes.

Belmonte earned 115,007 votes, earning his third term as the city's congressman. He has served as House speaker since 2010.

Liberal Party's Herbert Bautista is also returning as Quezon City mayor after a landslide victory.

In his speech, Bautista said he is looking forward to the victor of Liberal Party's Maria Leonor "Leni" Robredo as vice president. Robredo has kept a lead Tuesday by a slim margin over Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. in unofficial tallies.

Belmonte's daughter, Ma. Josefina "Joy" Belmonte, was also reelected as the city's vice mayor. As vice mayor, the younger Belmonte has concurrently served as chairperson of the city's anti-poverty community.

The board also proclaimed First District's Vincent "Bingbong" Crisologo as representative, having earned a conclusive 81,799 votes.

Winnie Castelo was also reelected as representative of the Second District with 172,001 votes.

Actor Alfred Vargas, who earned 134,946 votes, is set to return to the Lower House after being proclaimed representative of Quezon City's Fifth District.

Jose Christopher "Kit" Belmonte of the city's Sixth District, meanwhile, is similarly returning for a second term in Congress.

Quezon City is the most populous city in the country, and one of the areas that make up the National Capital Region.
