2 die in La Union mishap

CAMP DIEGO SILANG, La Union, Philippines – Two men died when their motorcycle collided with a delivery truck  in Naguilian, La Union on Wednesday night.

Driver Mark Kevin Flores, 22, and his passenger Isagani Erenio, 36, were declared dead on arrival at the Naguilian District Hospital, according to Chief Inspector Ismael Gauna, town police chief.

Reports said the motorcycle were running at top speed along the Naguilian-Baguio road in Barangay Dallipaoen when it crashed into an Isuzu truck driven by Ferdinand La Fuente, 24, at past 7 p.m.

Witnesses said the motorcycle overtook a bus.

“The victims were thrown from the motorcycle and run over by the bus that they overtook,” Gauna said.   

Bus driver Rogelio Aberin, 61, said he did not see the victims as the road was dimly lit.

La Fuente and Aberin were taken to the Naguilian police station for investigation.
