CABANATUAN CITY, Philippines – Unidentified men burned four passenger buses here on Friday night.

Senior Superintendent Manuel Cornel, Nueva Ecija police director, said armed men attacked Five Star Bus Co. along Emilio Vergara Highway in Barangay Sta. Arcadia at 7 p.m. and poured gasoline on the buses.

Police Officer 1 Joel Mendoza said only one bus was totally burned. No one among the company’s personnel and security guards was injured.

Mendoza said they are investigating if New People’s Army rebels were behind the attack.

He said the firm’s staff refused to say if they received demand letters to pay “revolutionary tax.”
