Soldier killed in Batangas clash

MANILA, Philippines - A soldier was killed in an encounter with New People’s Army rebels in Tuy town in Batangas on Monday.

Airman 1st Class Cliff Arvin Alama suffered a gunshot wound in the shoulder and died on the way to a hospital.

Maj. Angelo Guzman, Southern Luzon Command spokesman, said members of the Air Force’s 730th Combat Group were patrolling Barangay Toong when they encountered the rebels at 5:49 p.m.
