Former SAF cop nabbed for rape

MANILA, Philippines – The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested a former member of the elite Special Action Force (SAF) for the alleged rape of a 15-year-old girl in Camarines Sur Tuesday.

Senior Superintendent Marlon Tejada, CIDG Bicol chief, said the operation also led to the rescue of the girl whose father sought the help of the police against suspect Renato Suarez.

The raiding team found a loaded .45 caliber pistol and a police identification card, which established Suarez’s real identity as Police Officer 1 Henry Quinones.

CIDG director Chief Superintendent Victor Deona said Quinones was previously assigned with the SAF but has been absent without official leave (AWOL) since 2010.

Investigators are also verifying if Quinones is the same man who is wanted for murder in Daet, Camarines Norte.
