P300,000 worth of marijuana seized in Makati City

MANILA, Philippines - Combined agents of the Makati City Police and the Makati Anti-Drug Abuse Council (MADAC) arrested a suspected drug trafficker, seizing seven kilos of marijuana leaves and stalks during a sting operation in Barangay Bangkal early Thursday.

A MADAC report identified the arrested suspect as Cedrick Sevilla of 1396 Apolinario St. in Barangay Bangkal.

According to the report, Sevilla was arrested at about 12:05 a.m. along Apolinario St. shortly after handing over the plastic bags containing marijuana to an undercover police officer who pretended to be a buyer.

Police said the seized marijuana have a street value of at least P300,000.

According to the Makati City Police, Sevilla admitted that he was selling the marijuana to students.

Investigators are still trying to find out the supplier of the seized marijuana.

Meanwhile, complaints for illegal drug possession and sale are being readied against Sevilla who is now detained at the Makati Police headquarters.
