ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines  – Authorities have launched a manhunt for four detainees who escaped from the city jail in Isabela, Basilan yesterday morning.

City jail warden Inspector Fe Galvez identified the fugitives as Muslimin Sayuman, Kayser Nassan, Bigmar Boso, and Garwas Hakim Asadi, who are facing charges of murder and car theft.

Galvez said the inmates sawed the iron grills of their cell in Barangay Port Area at about 4:30 a.m.

The fugitives were believed to have fled toward Sampanit Complex, a mountainous area said to be occupied by Abu Sayyaf bandits.
