Government employee cited for honesty

NORTH COTABATO, Philippines – An employee of the municipal government of Makilala in this province was cited yesterday for returning a wallet containing P15,000 cash he found over the weekend.

Driver Allan Javines, 43, found the wallet in the restroom of a barangay health center in the municipality.

Mayor Rudy Caoagdan presented Javines with a special citation for his honesty.

Javines, a father of six, said he did not think of keeping the wallet to himself and immediately turned it over to the police.

He said he was afraid that something bad would happen to him or to his family if he kept the wallet.
