Retired teacher gunned down

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – Motorcycle-riding men shot dead a retired teacher in Currimao, Ilocos Norte Sunday.

Translacion Bautista, 66, was in a tricycle with some relatives when the assailants shot at them in Barangay Maglaoi Sur.

The victim died at the scene from several gunshot wounds in the body, said town police chief Senior Inspector Ryan Retotar.

Bautista’s husband, former village chairman Macario, was slain by armed men who attacked their house in Barangay Turod last year.

Her 10-year-old grandchild and three other relatives were unharmed.

Police were still investigating the killing.
