Ex-forest ranger gunned down

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – A retired forest ranger was shot dead in his house in Purok Papaya, Barangay Remus, Baggao, Cagayan last Wednesday.

Sonny Guillermo, who was assigned in the town of Alcala, has been receiving death threats over a land dispute in Barangay Alba prior to the incident, Chief Inspector Romar Pacis told The STAR.

Police said Guillermo was watching television with his family in the living room at around 6 p.m. when two men shot him from the front door. The case is still being investigated.
