Abu Sayyaf seizes 2 construction workers in Basilan

ZAMBOANGA CITY - Suspected Abu Sayyaf gunmen on Thursday morning seized construction workers involved in the completion of a circumferential road in Akbar, Basilan.

Police said two dump truck drivers of the Alraf Construction were seized by the bandits in Barangay Caddayan, Akbar town at around 8:35 p.m.

The identities of the victims have not been disclosed by the authorities.

The Basilan Police Provincial Office said that the bandits released the two workers an hour after.

Investigators said the bandits are trying to extort money from the construction company.
