Boy, 7, hit by stray bullet in Laguna

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – A seven-year-old boy was hit by a stray bullet while playing with his mother at their house in Barangay Bagong Silang, Lumban, Laguna on Sunday afternoon, an official said yesterday.

Isaac Gabriel Ruda remains confined at the Christian General Hospital in Pagsanjan, Laguna, according to Chief Superintendent Jesus Gatchalian, Calabarzon police director. The stray bullet grazed Ruda’s head.

Provincial jail guard Mario Cortez, 56, who lives in the same barangay, was arrested after witnesses said he fired a gun.

Charges of reckless imprudence resulting in physical injury will be filed against Cortez, investigators said.
