Cavite barangay official gunned down

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – Three men on a motorcycle shot dead a barangay councilman in front of an elementary school in Barangay Sanja Mayor in Tanza, Cavite Tuesday morning.

Ronilo Garcia, a resident of Barangay Paradahan 2, died from multiple gunshots to the body, according to Senior Superintendent Joselito Esquivel, Cavite police director.

Esquivel said Garcia was driving his car on his way to Tanza proper when he was shot at around 8:23 a.m. Witnesses said they heard successive gunshots.

A special team was formed to investigate the killing.
