Ecija vice mayor’s aide shot dead

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga, Philippines â€“ A security aide of a municipal vice mayor was shot dead by an unidentified assailant in the town of Guimba in Nueva Ecija on Thursday.

Francisco Castro, 50, a security aide of Guimba Vice Mayor Nestor Bernardino, was at a waiting shed in Barangay Triala when the assailant shot him, said Senior Superintendent Crizaldo Nieves, Nueva Ecija police director.

Nieves said Castro died from gunshots to the head and chest. He said the assailant fled on a motorcycle.

Police recovered six slugs for a caliber .45 pistol at the crime scene.
