Village poll bet shot dead

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – A village councilman seeking reelection was shot dead at a wedding reception in Gamu, Town Isabela at dawn yesterday.

Rolly Lauria, of Barangay Furao, died from a gunshot to the head, according to Isabela police director Senior Superintendent Sotero Ramos Jr.

Reports said the gunman shot Lauria as he was urinating near where he and his friends where having drinks.

Police have yet to determine whether the killing was politically motivated.
