3 relatives on the way to wake die in mishap

ILOILO CITY , Philippines – Three relatives on their way to another relative’s wake were killed while five others sustained injuries when a speeding taxi rammed into a tricycle whose driver was replacing a flat tire in Pavia, Iloilo Wednesday, police said.

The fatalities were identified as Cesar Prevendido, 48; Jessie Marie Abrasoza, 10; and Letecia Ollosa, 19.

Due to the impact, the tricycle was thrown about 40 meters away. Taxi driver Barney Basotin, 32, fled the scene but later surrendered to the Iloilo City police.
