Isabela execs keen on food security

ISABELA, Philippines – The provincial government has expressed confidence that it will have no problem in food supply this year as it is expecting high production of rice and corn.

Gov. Bojie Dy said the expected high production of rice and corn will be able to sustain not only the needs of Isabela but also adjoining provinces in northern and central Luzon.

“In the past two years, Isabela has maintained it’s No. 1 status in the production of rice and corn,” he said.

Dy said the province’s success in agriculture is a result of the BRO or Bojie-Rodito Opportunities program which provides a nine-point benefit package for small farmers.

“The Dy-Albano administration knows only too well the sufferings of our small farmers, in fair or foul weather,” said Vice Gov. Rodito Albano.

Albano said Isabela was given the Gawad Saka Award by the Department of Agriculture.
