Prime suspect in GenSan mediaman's slay charged
MANILA, Philippines - Police yesterday filed murder charges against the prime suspect in the killing of mediaman Cris Guarin in General Santos City last Jan. 5.
Charged before the city prosecutor’s office was Marvin Palabrica, who is now the subject of a massive manhunt by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).
In filing the charges, CIDG-Region 12 chief Senior Superintendent Albert Ferro was accompanied by Guarin’s widow, Lyn.
CIDG chief Director Samuel Pagdilao Jr. said Palabrica was positively identified by two witnesses as the gunman in the killing of Guarin, publisher of Tatak Bigtime News.
Pagdilao said Guarin was with his wife and daughter Alea onboard their Kia Pride sedan when two motorcycle-riding men fired at them.
Ferro said the CIDG is still digging deeper into the motive behind the killing.
