Barangay dad shot dead

SANTIAGO CITY, Isabela ,Philippines  – A barangay councilman was shot dead by a motorcycle-riding assassin in front of his house in Barangay Pinili, Abulug, Cagayan Sunday evening.

Police identified the slain barangay official as Froilan Rivera. Investigators said the victim was closing his door to call the night when the assassin stopped in front of him and pumped caliber 99mm bullet in his head.

Neighbors rushed the victim to the hospital but he was pronounced dead on arrival. Police initially ruled politics behind the motive of the killing.
