Zambo revenue clerk dismissed

MANILA, Philippines - The Office of the Ombudsman yesterday ordered the dismissal from the service of a provincial revenue collection clerk for misappropriating government funds for his own personal use.

Graft probers found Menardo Basalan, revenue collection clerk III of Siay town in Zamboanga Sibugay, liable for grave misconduct, serious dishonesty and grave neglect of duty for accumulating a cash shortage amounting to P213,619.69 which was discovered in an audit in December 2004.
