Municipal councilor slain in Zamboanga

IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay , Philippines  – A municipal councilor was killed by an unidentified armed man Saturday night in Diplahan town, this province, it was learned here yesterday.

A belated police report received here identified the victim as Nazario Bayubay, 43, of Barangay Bulawan.

The report said Bayubay was busy tending his viodeoke bar when a man entered his entertainment place and without any provocation, pulled out his sidearm, and fired several times at the town councilman.

The gunman later casually walked out of the bar, boarded his motorcycle parked outside and then fled to an unknown direction.

Concerned bar customers took Bayubay to a nearby private hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival, police said, adding that personal grudge could have motivated the killing of the town kagawad.

Police have staged a manhunt against the gunman who was clad in a black jacket.
