Fireworks explode in bet's sortie; 6 injured

MALOLOS CITY, Philippines  – At least six persons, mostly minors, were injured when aerial fireworks loaded on a truck exploded during a campaign sortie of a candidate for barangay chairman here yesterday.

Police identified the victims as Rhia Rose Santiago, 15; Jesselyn Menesses, 15; Rafaela Garcia, 15; Ellen Genioso, 15; and John Bollar, 26. The sixth victim was still unidentified as of press time.

Police said the victims were part of the campaign team of Teody Apostol, a candidate for chairman of Barangay Mojon here, which was conducting a house-to-house sortie when the fireworks on an Elf truck caught fire and exploded.
