Bulacan treasurer slain

MALOLOS CITY, Philippines – Four motorcycle-riding men gunned down the treasurer of the City of San Jose del Monte in Bulacan on Wednesday afternoon but failed to take the P2-million payroll she had withdrawn from the bank.

Police said city treasurer Estelita Mendoza, together with city employees Ester Honteveros and Fe Retueto and driver Joey Fernandez, had just withdrawn the amount from a Land Bank of the Philippines branch and was on her way back to City Hall on board a Toyota Innova when her group was attacked.
