11 injured as truck rams into parked vehicles

ILAGAN, Isabela, Philippines – Eleven people sustained injuries when a speeding truck lost its brakes and rammed into a row of parked vehicles in front of the public market here before noon yesterday, authorities said.

The Isuzu truck, driven by a certain Edizar Acson, had come from Santo Tomas town and was negotiating a downward section of the national road in Barangay Baligatan when its brakes malfunctioned. 

In the process, the 10-wheeler truck slammed into a passenger jeepney, an XLT-type jeepney, a pick-up, six tricycles and a motorcycle parked along the road.

Reports said the truck also rammed into two stalls and a lamppost.
