3 siblings aged 2 to 5 die in blaze

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – Three siblings aged 2 to 5 died in a fire that razed their home in Dasmariñas City, Cavite Wednesday night, police said.

Reports reaching Chief Superintendent Nicanor Bartolome, Calabarzon police director, identified the fatalities as Bernard, 5; Mayumi, 3; and Ricky, 2, all surnamed Bautista.

Fire probers said the fire, which started at around 9:30 p.m., was caused by a kerosene lamp that was left unattended in the victims’ home in Barangay Langkaan 11.

Investigators said the children’s parents were not around during the incident as they attended a wake that night.
