Kidnapped boy freed in Basilan

-

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – Kidnappers, believed to have links to the Abu Sayyaf and a “lost command” rebel group, freed their five-year-old captive Saturday night following negotiations in Mohammad Adjul, Basilan, authorities said.

The boy, a son of a carpenter, was handed over to Mohammad Adjul Mayor Taib Pawaki.

No ransom was paid for the release of the boy, who was seized last July 27 while he and his elder brother were on their way home in Colonia, Lamitan town. – Roel Pareño, James Mananghaya
