Raps vs 4 slay suspects junked

BANGUED, Abra — The Department of Justice (DOJ) has junked the murder charges against four suspects in the October 2002 killing of Tineg Mayor Clarence Benwaren.

In a resolution, Justice Secretary Raul Gonzales said there was insufficient evidence to charge Felipe Belisario, Maryjane Eduarte, Dennis Garcia and Ruben Bobila for Benwaren’s murder.

Benwaren was gunned down while he was attending a wedding inside a church in Calauan, Laguna. The suspected gunman, a certain Edberto Amoncio, was killed in a shootout with responding policemen. — Myds Supnad
