Brother of Ecija mayor gunned down

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga — A brother of an incumbent mayor in Nueva Ecija was gunned down by unidentified gunmen in Barangay Pio Chico, Gen. Tinio, Nueva Ecija, last Saturday.

Reports reaching here identified the fatality as Rolando Bote, 32, brother of Gen.Tinio Mayor Virgilio Bote.

Bote was shot several times by gunmen in front of their old house, the report said.

The victim, who sustained several gunshot wounds, was rushed to Fort Magsaysay Hospital but died while undergoing treatment, police said.

Police recovered three empty shells from a 12-gauge shot gun and five empty shells from a caliber .45 pistol.

Gen. Tinio police authorities are still investigating the motive of the killing. — Ric Sapnu
