Poll bet 2nd fatality in ship sinking

Survivors confirmed yesterday a second fatality in Monday’s sinking of a ferry in Tablas Strait off Romblon — a vice mayoral candidate.

The survivors, whom the Coast Guard brought to Manila, identified the fatality only as a certain Auntie Noring, a vice mayoral bet in Sibali, Romblon.

A rescuer from a passing ship, Nemesio Burgos, also died. The Coast Guard hailed him as a hero.

The Coast Guard said 16 people remained missing, out of 45 on board. — Nestor Etolle, Sandy Araneta
