FDA: C2 drinks safe despite pullout in Vietnam

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - There is no reason to withdraw the C2 Cool & Clean drinks from the local market despite the recall of the products in Vietnam last May, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said yesterday.

In Advisory 2016-086, the FDA said the inspections of URC Philippines’ two manufacturing plants showed the company was complying with good manufacturing practices required by the agency.

“The C2 Cool & Clean products manufactured by URC Philippines is generally considered as safe for human consumption,” the agency said.

The FDA inspected the products and the plants following Vietnam’s Ministry of Health order to recall C2 Green Tea products after they were found to have excessive lead content.

The FDA said it will continue to monitor C2 products and other beverages.
