PAL: Supermodel missed check-in time
MANILA, Philippines – Supermodel Karlie Kloss slammed Philippine Air Lines (PAL) on social media after she missed her flight from New York to Vancouver on Wednesday.
In a statement sent to media yesterday, the flag carrier said Kloss missed her flight because she arrived late at the check-in counter at the JFK International Airport.
“We are sorry to hear that Ms. Karlie Kloss was not able to board our PAL flight from New York to Vancouver (PR127),” PAL said.
As a matter of policy, PAL said its check-in counters at JFK International Airport close one hour before the estimated time of departure.
The flight was scheduled to depart at 12:15 a.m., and the counters closed at 11:15 p.m.
Kloss arrived at the check-in counter at 11:40 p.m.
After missing the flight, the former Victoria’s Secret model took to Twitter to express her complaint against PAL.
“@flyPAL has the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE OF ALL TIME. Most BUDGET AIRLINE. Rude & disrespectful. Shame on You @flyPAL,” she said.
PAL has apologized to Kloss on its official Twitter account.
The airline said it values its passengers.
The carrier said there were operational limitations at airports, including cut-off time for check-in and boarding of passengers.
“We are happy that Ms. Kloss responded to PAL’s apology. The airline also sent her a letter stating there was no deliberate intention to cause her any disservice,” PAL said.
PAL said it would refund Kloss' ticket or rebook her flight to Vancouver.
“PAL will be pleased to serve Ms. Kloss’ travel needs in the future,” the airline said.
